VVCAL blanket in green palette – A very green post :)

With my trusty KnitPicks Palette yarn, I’ve started a new Vibrant Vintage CAL blanket. You may remember this CAL from January – August 2016 – the Facebook Group has nearly 4000 members! You can find the 33 free granny square patterns in PDF format at Ravelry or at the post linked above.  In the meantime, check out this spiffy green version! Palette yarn is awesome and as the name suggests, there are a ton of colors – and some are even heathered.  I made one tester square to see what hook I was going to use – Size E! Then I had a serious planning sesh for my chosen squares – the recipient wants mostly three dimensional squares instead of flat ones. And some joining in progress! You can see a bunch of join options on the VVCAL main page linked above, or look through all the joining methods I show on my site. Or to see what some IG crafters have already done by browse the #VVCAL hashtag on Instagram. Looking forward to showing y’all …

Seaglass Blanket

The Seaglass Blanket pattern is now available! Intro price of $3.50 will go up to $4 in 24 hours – on Aug 4 at 1pm CST! CRAFTSY / RAVELRY / LOVEKNITTING Seaglass is a unique piece that takes two classic elements of crochet, the granny squares in sea glass colors wrapped in corals, and a nautical chevron ripple, and combines them with breezy ocean colors for a beachy summer look. The combo of different stitches will keep your interest, and you may learn some new techniques along the way! Change up the color palette for a whole new look. I can imagine this in pastels with a grey and white chevron – yum! Pattern is written by Rachele Carmona, and tested by the lovely Kaelyn Guerin. Find her across social media as @iiirdwind and enjoy her fresh style. Kaelyn has graciously provided all of the photos for this pattern and blog post. Aren’t they lovely!! Birthday Blankets: Something old into something new :)

Who remembers that Sesame Street song??? I just knew it would be on YouTube, and yep! Go ahead… you know you wanna watch it 🙂 Today I’m getting into this spirit by turning some (111!) squares that I made last year into 2 blankets for my little cousins on their birthday. They’re 4 years apart, but born on the same day! Wowzers! Here are some old photos of the squares I’m using today. They are the extra pattern tester squares, photo model squares, etc.. from the Vibrant Vintage CAL that I hosted in 2016 using Stylecraft Special DK (affiliate) – All 33 square designs are represented here and I love these squares enough to frog all the edging and joining and give them new life as a pair of birthday blankets. ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• Here is what my living room looks like at the moment: I’ve frogged most of the edging and joining of the squares that were previously joined up for tutorials and what-not. 48 of the squares have a DC round of edging already on them. …

Free Crochet Square Pattern: Crafter Mystery!

Mystery Square! If you know who made this mystery free crochet square pattern, please let me know and I will link! For now, this square pictured below has been floating around without any credit to artist, designer, or pattern, but I just HAD to make it – such a beautiful sight. And I have these yarns that I have been dying to use in a blanket, but never knew what pattern I wanted to use. Well, now it’s staring me in the face!

Trampoline Block

Good morning! I am in the perfect crochet situation right now – riding in the passenger seat on a road trip to SeaWorld San Antonio. In my travel, I decided to bring only prototype work and no custom queue pieces. Scary for me! But I wanted to take a true creative vacation and flesh out some fresh ideas. Please note: Since this pattern is a mobile endeavor, it will be bare bones for right now! I’ll come back and edit with more pics, links, and a view of multiple squares to see the joining method. Here is the Trampoline Block pattern born from my desire to have a solid granny without corner holes, and a “detached” feeling border to frame that pretty variegated yarn. Pattern Notes Variegated yarn: Ice Yarn “Dancing Baby” available online at YarnParadise.com Solid yarn: Bernat Yarn – the big one pounder whose name is escaping me at the moment… I’ll link when I’m back home 😉 These are both DK weight, so I’m using an I (5.5mm) hook. General directions: Make …
