Free Crochet Blanket Pattern: Unbothered Blanket

Yay! It’s all done! The first of 6 free blankets in my Relaxghan series. Look forward to a new free blanket pattern on the last day of the month, every month through July. Related links Pattern PDF on Ravelry Relaxghans series intro post FO reveal of Unbothered (yummy pics and al the deets) Scheepjes Cahlista Yarn (affiliate) Hope y’all enjoy this one! See all the individual square motifs below 🙂 Info First in a series of six “Relaxghans”, Unbothered (named for the completely haphazard color choices and square orientation) is a stash buster and a remnant eater made of five different square patterns, all joined as you go. A super simple, no-waste border edges the piece, and when it’s all finished, you’ll have a soft and cozy reminder of the peaceful vibes you felt in the making process. Divine. I follow hashtags: #UnbotheredBlanket #CypressTextiles Yarn Scheepjes “Cahlista” (100% Natural Cotton; 50g/85m) 700-750g Cahlista. I used random colors that I had on-hand leftover from several projects. Each square will take a maximum of 15-17g of yarn, …

Flat Braid Join with only a ch-1 (“Tiny Cable Join”)

Hi, y’all! As you may already know, I made a Vibrant Vintage Blanket recently in shades of green with a cream color background and Border. It took me several tries to figure out what join to use, but I settled on a little experiment I did with a riff on flat braid join. YouTube Video Tutorial: (Shaky hand at the beginning – I apologize!!) So the normal flat Braid join has 3- or 5-ch spaces or something like that, but the one I used has only 1 chain for the spaces. So on sides that are joined, the only chain is the joining chain. You can see this dainty little textured join is just a little something extra to set off the squares without taking anything away. There’s the tiny cable effect which is just perfect. It also absorbs any slight variance in the square size, where a rigid, plain join might pucker or pull. Anyway, I’m happy with this little join, and fellow FaceBook Crafter, Liz Cooper has shared her lovely work using the …

Cozy Flowers: Free Pattern

Hi, y’all! It’s time for the release of my Cozy Flowers Blanket free pattern – yay! Typically I would make a PDF for the free pattern, and make it available in my Ravelry shop and my other shops, but since the majority of the instruction for this pattern is in the YouTube tutorial for the joining method, I thought it would be silly to make a PDF. So here is the full free pattern below. See the related posts for more details of the blanket process: Yarn WIP FO Reveal Cozy Flowers Difficulty: Perfect for a beginner who wants to learn some new techniques.  Materials Yarn: Scheepjes | Catona (10 50g balls – all different colors) and Sweet Treat (10  25g balls – all different colors) Colors Note: these are the colors I actually ended up using in the final piece. The blanket is worked from right to left, and the colors are used held together until the Catona runs out. There will be a little amount of Sweet Treat left over. (Catona, Sweet Treat) Flowers …

Paid -> Free = FUN!

Hi, y’all! Today in the spirit of the Autumn Refresh, I wanted to tell you about three of my older patterns that I browsed through and decided to convert to freebies. Yay! Ravelry pattern links Gumball Four Square Wildflower Autumn Refresh is all about pressing pause on new content and going through your existing body of work to see what needs a freshening or if anything can be “reused, reduced, or recycled.” I find that I am constantly dreaming up new content and just having a “set it and forget it” mentality for my previous works. Along the way I’m finding it important to make a habit of cultivating existing content for the folks who are just stumbling upon CypressTextiles.net for the first time. Okay, so let’s jump right into it, shall we? The three patterns I’ve converted to freebies are: Gumball {Click image to see original blog post} Gumball holds a special place in my heart as the first pattern I ever wrote. I always tell the story, but after I made my first …
