- beg dc OR beg hdc (1sc, ch1) – counts as 1 dc or 1 hdc
- beg pc beginning popcorn: (beg dc, 3dc) in same st, remove lp from hook, insert hook front to back through beg dc, grab lp and pull through to close popcorn
