Cottontail Blanket FO Reveal

Iris Dongo of Southern Belle Crochet fame (IG: @southernbellecrochet) – a fabulous member of the Tester Tribe – has finished testing the Cottontail Blanket! And just in time for Easter, too! She did an absolutely wonderful job photographing the project along the way. Could it be because she runs her own photography business with her husband? Just maybe! All of the beautiful photos in this post were taken by Iris. Enjoy ❤❤ Cottontail has been brewing in my idea bank for about six months. As soon as I laid eyes on the yarn, I knew it was destined for bobbles. It’s a super bulky yarn, so those are some seriously plush bunny tails!  And the beautiful thing about working with super bulky yarn? The speed… I cannot believe that the pile of Roma Big yarn* went from that pic above…. to this (heart eyesss!): And finally to THIS beauty! In such a short time!  It’s a fast and cozy make. Iris agreed with me that it’s so soft and squishy! Her words! Hehe What a cozy piece, …

Featured Artist: Bernadette Ambergen

Bernaette Ambergen is a textile artist who designs and creates some absolutely beautiful wearable art. Find her as “Berniolie” on Facebook (profile pictured above) and Instagram, and shop her stunning patterns on Etsy and Ravelry. I just have to start this feature with a snapshot of my favorite WIP project of hers: a scrappy hexagon piece that caught my eye on Instagram. She is using Scheepjes Invicta Colour yarn, and I love how the color changes are shown off in the pattern. Of course a colorful scrappy hexagon would easily draw my attention! It speaks my language! Color + Geometry = LOVE Then, when I started to follow Bernadette on Instagram, I quickly noticed that she seems to churn our these breathtaking shawls and other wearables, with beautiful lace patterns, each one so unique. Lace has never been my strong suit, and I think that’s what really makes me admire her work. Just check out her Ravelry page. I had to take a screenshot of her designs… What a brilliant collection of shawls! So many patterns to …

3 Ways to Crochet-A-Long in 2017

It’s a new year, in case you hadn’t noticed. I myself am still finishing 2016’s work, so I hardly have that “fresh start,” “new year, new me” feeling.. it’s the same ol’ 2016 me until I finish these projects and move on to the Next Big Thing. About this time last year, that big thing was my Vibrant Vintage CAL. With so many participants and a new square each week, I had a lot of fun keeping busy! CALs are a beautiful way to make the coming of the new year count. An easy-breezy commitment with a support group net of crafters that paves a surefire road to accomplishment. But this year I don’t have time to run a CAL. I do miss it though, so 2018 here I come 🙂 For now, check out these CALs from some seriously talented crafters that are sure to draw a crowd. 1.
