Hello, lovely crafter! Today I want to share a crochet pattern for a blanket that I made years ago. When I created this blanket in 2013, it was wildly popular on socials, but I never got around to actually writing up the pattern, since I felt it was so simple. Well, over a decade later, I decided that I would release all of the information so that anyone can make this pretty blanket. There is a lot of thought that goes into the layout of this blanket, and you will definitely enjoy the different ways you can use this pattern. Enjoy and happy crafting!

Repeat and Bracket Guide
- Square brackets [ ] are used for small repeats: 4dc, [2dc, 3tr, 2dc] 2 times
- Asterisks *are used for repeats that include small repeats: *5dc, [1ch, 1dc] 3 times in next ch, rep from * 3 times
- Round brackets ( ) are used when a string of stitches are worked into the same spot: (3tr, 3ch, 3tr) in next st
- Stitch Counts are given at the end of rows where necessary, in the following format: [12 dc, 3 sp]

–
Tips and Notes
- Weave your ends after each time you cut the yarn to avoid having to do them all at the end.
- Please read the stitch guide for any abbreviations.
- To get a neater result, I do not “chain up” for the first sc of the round/row. Jump straight into the first sc.

Instructions
This blanket is worked up by joining the mini granny squares as-you-go, following the color layout schematic. Then a sweet border is added to complete the piece. Enjoy!

–
Color Note
For this piece, I used remnants and stash Scheepjes Colour Crafter yarn. My color schematics show the 22 colors that I used, so you can pick 22 yarn shades and assign them to my schematic colors if you want to fade your blanket the same as mine.
Or, you can get the gist of how I color-faded my yarns and simply go with the flow creating something similar.
This design is definitely meant to de-stress you, not re-stress you, so don’t take it too seriously. It’ll end up looking amazing, trust me!
Ends Management
This blanket has a lot of ends since the motifs are only two rounds. In order to keep my sanity, I managed the ends as I went. During Round 1, I worked around the first end at the center of the motif, and then I carried that end up to the top of the motif, so it was right next to the second end created by cutting yarn after the second round.
Then I simply worked a surgeon’s knot (AKA fisherman’s knot) to secure the yarn, and I cut it about an inch short and quickly buried the ends using my crochet hook.
I have done this method for years and have not had the surgeon’s knots work loose.
