Yarn Remnants Box, or Painter’s Palette? The beginnings of May’s Relaxghan.

Y’all are loving my free Relaxghan’s series, and I could not be more grateful. My goal was to bring you one new free and easy crochet blanket pattern each month, for six months, that you could use to stash bust through your yarn remnants. There have been three Relaxghans released so far, but the most popular was the April blanket, Carefree. That one was a hit, and I am so giddy to show the May blanket, Good Vibes, to you all. For now, I think I’ll keep its design a secret. 🙂 Scroll to the end of this post for a complete index of related links. Advertisements

Cahlista in “Mermaid”

Okay y’all, if you’re ready to see the results of my newest color palette playtime, then feast your eyes on “Mermaid” and keep reading to see my eensy WIP progress. ❤️ [Browse this yarn!] These scrumptious little eye-candies of joy are Scheepjes | Cahlista 15g balls. I’ve created this Mermaid palette after several iterations and shade groupings. If you’re looking for the Color Pack, it will be in Scheepjes retailers by Dec 1, and you can find the 50g Cahlista* at WoolWarehouse. This is an aran weight cotton yarn that is passed over a flame 2 times to make sure it’s not “fuzzy.” I’ve made a sample Trellis for an upcoming surprise project, and oh my goodness this yarn is lush. I’m not usually the biggest cotton person, but this is a beautiful matte yarn with a lovely hand. It’s not stiff either – my wrists will sometimes get sore working with cotton and I haven’t had that problem with the Cahlista. (Note: I used a size 5mm (H) hook and it works great for …

Colorful Crochet: Finally, a blanket for ME!

When the famous Marianne Dekkers-Roos wants to send you a copy of her new book to review, you shout YES!! and wait patiently for it to arrive.  Find “Colorful Crochet” at Amazon, Target, and read more on Google Books. I love it so much and am proud to share more about it! Marianne has created some adorable projects with a range of what I call the “TV Factor.” Some projects are perfect to work on in front of the TV, and some are better worked while listening to an audiobook… I know y’all get it!! Well these book’s projects definitely have a Netflix binge sesh in their future.  Here’s my fave: the Puff Scarf ❤️❤️ If you’ve even seen one post on IG from @marretjeroos then you know color is going to play a huge part in this book – and you’d be right! The color is spectacular, but not tacky or over the top. My favorite solid color piece: the Hexagon Shawl “Ursula” – what a beauty!  And my favorite colorful design: the “Merry-Go-Round” …

Scheepjes Spirit

When I got my hands on Scheepjes Spirit yarn, I knew it was something special. It has a beautiful “halo” about it like a wool yarn, but it is actually a cotton blend. And the subtle monochrome color changes are to die for. I love it so much I have to tell you all about it! Worked with these beauties this week and snapped a candid pic of them spilling out of my yarn bag ❤️❤️❤️ And then a posed shot: US shoppers can find Spirit at LoveKnitting* for free shipping on orders over $60, international shoppers can find it at WoolWarehouse* with free delivery to the UK on orders over £25, and as always, it is available at other Scheepjes retailers. Look at the gorgeous color range – and all of the yarns are named after animals (as in Spirit Animal!) I’m loving Grasshopper ❤️ The deets: Fiber Content: 56% Cotton, 46% Acrylic Needle size 1: 3.5 mm Needle size 2: 4 mm Ball weight: 50 gram Length: 210 meter Gauge: 22 stitches, 30 needles …

BQueen Collection – Custom Dye Box

You may remember my post back in mid-June when I photographed my first experience dyeing yarn with a BQueen Dye Box. If you haven’t seen that post, please hop over! It talks about the process and you’ll see the gorgeous yellow Safflower-dyed yarn. ❤️❤️ (The pattern for this square is “Crystal” from the Vibrant Vintage CAL!)  When I dyed my first hank, I instantly wanted 6 more colors on 6 more hanks to make – of course – a blanket! Wouldn’t that be too lush?? After a chit chat with super-cool BQueen founder, Makenzie, she informed me that she had some gears turning already for a custom type Dye Box.  I waited patiently and finally she told me it was ready! 6 hanks of Superwash Merino bulky and 6 gorgeous natural dye vials.  I put my yarn soaking and started mixing up the dyes in the cups Makenzie provides with each Box.  Here are the remaining 5 dyes and their name tags.. I couldn’t stop the vials from rolling around to get a shot of …

Scheepjes Roma Big Yarn

Buy Scheepjes Roma Big at WoolWarehouse*! I’m not kidding when I say I’ve never worked with a yarn this chunky, but when I started drafting pattern designs for my upcoming book, I got a picture in my mind that a thick yarn would be perfect for this certain project. A quick search landed me on Scheepjes Roma Big. What a beauty!! I can describe it as a soft rope. It’s got great structure and beautiful stitch definition. Not too fuzzy, but not too smooth, and a fairly matte finish. Scheepjes Colour Crafter: A yarn stash staple.

I wanted to introduce y’all to a durable DK yarn that I just started using. Chances are if Scheepjes Colour Crafter isn’t already your go-to DK powerhouse, you have one that popped in your mind. I used to use a different one too, (probably the one you thought of!!) but the moment I laid hand on Colour Crafter, I never looked back. Check out this rich palette – can you tell I’m amped for Fall? I’ll be using these colors for an awesome pattern coming soon! Y’all will love it! This is only part of the selection that I have right now, and I suspect I’ll have all 93 (!) colors soon.. Here’s another palette that I’m using to update my Desert Bloom Blanket pattern. I love this yarn so much that I’m starting fresh with a whole new – larger – Desert Bloom in Colour Crafter. So what’s the yarn like? Scheepjes CC is ultra squishy and plush. Acrylic and easy care. One of the reasons I like it is that there isn’t much of …
