Needle-Free Cross Stitch Over Crochet Tutorial for Beginners: Scholar Pillow

Hey, y’all! My Scholar Pillow pattern is in full effect, but interrupted by a serious jonesin’ to make something for Valentine’s Day this year. So I’ve decided to make a quick Scholar Pillow, but with a heart stitched on, in the same style as my letterman alphabet. While the Scholar Pillow pattern (plus the letterman cross stitch alphabet charts!) won’t be released until March/April, I thought today I’d just go ahead and show you how I will cross stitch the design onto my pillow cover. So, welcome to my “Needle-Free Cross Stitch Over Your Crochet Tutorial for Beginners!” It’s such a fun way to add a design to your piece without the frustration of changing color all the time. If you’re like me, you’re never 100% satisfied with your color changes… Note: I recommend this method if you are going to use just one color for your design. This tutorial is meant to be a way to spice up your craft life by adding in some cross-stitch-esque funsies. If you want to make a more traditional multi-color …

Free Crochet Pattern: Gumball Blanket

Gumball Crochet Blanket Pattern Dutch Translation of Pattern. Pattern Notes The blanket is made by creating the first square and then joining all subsequent squares on the final round as you go. I describe my preferred method. When the desired size is reached, the blanket is edged with one round of single crochet. Hold two strands of yarn together for a thicker blanket.

Cozy Flowers: Free Pattern

Hi, y’all! It’s time for the release of my Cozy Flowers Blanket free pattern – yay! Typically I would make a PDF for the free pattern, and make it available in my Ravelry shop and my other shops, but since the majority of the instruction for this pattern is in the YouTube tutorial for the joining method, I thought it would be silly to make a PDF. So here is the full free pattern below. See the related posts for more details of the blanket process: Yarn WIP FO Reveal Cozy Flowers Difficulty: Perfect for a beginner who wants to learn some new techniques.  Materials Yarn: Scheepjes | Catona (10 50g balls – all different colors) and Sweet Treat (10  25g balls – all different colors) Colors Note: these are the colors I actually ended up using in the final piece. Whip St Join for Hexagons

Hi there! For this YouTube Video tutorial, click here.  (Ravelry link coming soon) Note: This tutorial is part of Hexagon Month – September’s Theme of the Month. Introduction If you absolutely cannot fathom the idea of sewing your motifs together, then this is the sewing join for you. I’m working on a huge blog post with all the joining methods I could find, and there are pros and cons to each one.  When to use: You don’t have a whole lot of yarn to join with You want a “barely there” join that’s easier than for example, mattress st You want to dip your toe in the waters of sewing your motifs together Try it! It’s very easy and doesn’t feel like sewing since you’re using your hook. Materials Normally you would use a tapestry needle for the whip st join, but if you’re anything like me, using something besides your hook makes you cringe. So I just use my hook! You’ll also need some yarn in a similar color as the motifs to blend …
