Hello, amazing crafter! Isn’t there just something about receiving a yarn order in the mail and taking that fresh yarn out of the package? I know my yarn stash mysteriously multiplies in the night, but that doesn’t stop me from getting new yarn… I’ll crochet through it all someday, right?! (Just say yes lol)
The yarn I most recently received is some Scheepjes Colour Crafter Colour Packs. There are six packs with 6 x 50g balls each, in coordinating colors. And I’m lucky enough to have received all six packs to review! Of course, since I’m a color lover, my latest crochet blanket design will be using all six, plus some 100g solid for the accent. In this post, I’ll show you the yarny goodness, of course, and I’ll also let you in on a little of my thought process as I start my new project.
Keep reading to see a tiny peek of this latest blanket design, and take a look at my newly-arrived yarn.
Scheepjes Colour Crafter Packs – The Gang’s All Here!
The yarn I am using for my latest design, Spinwheel Blanket, is Scheepjes Colour Crafter. This is like a Scheepjes staple. It’s their 100g acrylic powerhouse, and it’s very durable, plus anti-pilling. Let me show you the packs. I took so many photos – a little unhinged – and I’m going to show all of them here.
You can see all six packs – every row is a pack. Swooooooon!
–
Bird’s eye view, yes I am angled precariously on a dining room chair – anything for the shot! Pick a fave, I dare you. They are all so good and there’s something for everyone (for me, it’s all six though, I mean just look lol)

–
And here I am really just doing a funky li’l pose with all of the packs. They’re bending all cutesy like a rainbow!
I received the yarn and abruptly opened up all of the packs for a photo opportunity. Yes, I did want to get a pic while they were still in the packs, but out of the packaging is just so much prettier. Catch a pic of all of the packs as they would arrive to you on the Scheepjes website.

–
This is the array that mostly represents how the packs come, and you can really see how these colors will work in a blanket together. Or separate! You do you, and either way it would be awesome.
I could also see pairing two packs, like the yellow/orange pack with the greeny pack below it, or the gray/tans with the blues next to it. Two packs is the equivalent to six 100g balls, which is more than enough for a baby blanket.

–
These packs are officially my new favorite thing.

The Solid Packs
Additionally, there are Solid Color Packs, which are a pack of 2 x 100g balls of colors that would make amazing background/main colors for the packs or any other project. Head to the website to see all of the color numbers that are available.

I’m using one of these packs for my blanket!
Individual Packs + Inspiration
I’ve broken down each individual pack for you and found a blanket design of mine that I have made in similar colors for some inspiration. The names are Dutch/Netherlands themed, which I just love. To see all of the color numbers in each pack, head to the Scheepjes website. Enjoy!
Tulip Fields Colour Pack
First up, we have the Tulip Fields pack, which is a stunning array of pinks and purples. I love how these packs aren’t just shades of the same color, but they’re varied curated tones that just go well together.
–
Inspiration
My Geometric Lace Blanket, with a color-fade from pinks to purples. With a white Solid Pack, it would make the perfect blanket.

–
And, just to show the inspo eye candy which is the pack’s namesake – the famous fields of the Netherlands:

–
The Netherlands is famous for its vibrant tulip fields, especially during the blooming season from late March to mid-May. The most popular area to see them is the Bollenstreek (Bulb Region) south of Amsterdam, with Keukenhof Gardens being a major attraction. However, other areas like Noordoostpolder in Flevoland also offer vast fields and tulip festivals.
Color combo perfection! On to the next pack..
Clogs Colour Pack
Eeeeeep! Inspired by Dutch clogs, these fiery hot colors are perfection, especially with the warm cream color for contrast and to bring it all together.
–
Inspiration
I don’t know if I have made a blanket with just yellow and orange, but here is a collection of my VVCAL squares in this palette. Gorgeoussssss!

–
Meet the clogs! Naturally water resistant, they protect feet from the wet Dutch climate, and enable their wearer to move across sodden ground with ease. Clogs continued to be worn by agricultural workers well into the 20th century, as their sturdiness guarded against injury.

–
These precious wooden shoes are so beautiful and saturated with pretty color. And up next…
Wadden Sea Colour Pack
These sea blues mixed with darker shades make for a gorgeous palette. I could see buying a couple packs and making a blanket with just these colors!
–
Inspiration
Another Geometric Lace Blanket – I made 48 of these when I did custom blanket work, and so I’ve use as many color combos.

–
The Wadden Sea is a large, unbroken intertidal zone and mudflat ecosystem located in the southeastern part of the North Sea. It’s known for its dynamic landscape shaped by tides and winds, and it’s a UNESCO World Heritage site for its geological and ecological significance.

–
I just want to jump into this photo with my crochet project. Next up we have…
The Veluwe Colour Pack
This may be my favorite pack of them all! I am a huge lover of different greens
–
Inspiration
My Beach Hut Blanket in these colors is so perfect. It would be a great one for the pack!

–
I hadn’t heard of the Veluwe before I saw this pack, and so I went and looked it up. The Veluwe is a forested, hilly region and nature reserve in the province of Gelderland, Netherlands. It’s known for its diverse landscapes, including woodlands, heathlands, sand drifts, and small lakes.

–
It’s a popular destination for hiking, cycling, and wildlife viewing, and I wanna go. Let’s see what’s next!
Canal Houses Colour Pack
These reds are so lush and romantic. Okay maybe this is my favorite pack.

–
Inspiration
My red and white version of the Heirloom Collection Blanket would work perfectly with this pack and a white Solid Pack.

–
Amsterdam canal houses, known as “grachtenpanden” in Dutch, are the distinctive, narrow, and tall buildings that line the city’s canals. These historic structures, often with elaborate gables, were built during Amsterdam’s Golden Age and served as residences, warehouses, and businesses.

–
I have been there and seen these canal houses, and it’s on my bucket list to go back. For real. With my whole fam. Okay, one more pack to peek!
Windmills Colour Pack
This is the perfect pack for a neutrals aesthetic, or if you can’t decide which pack to pair, it will go with any of the others.

–
Inspiration
Of course, I have a Geometric Lace Blanket for this occasion. Do not adjust your screen, this photo is not in black and white. The color blend from white to black and through all of the neutrals is perfection.

–
Dutch windmills are iconic structures, historically vital for land drainage and various industrial processes, and now cherished as cultural symbols. They are particularly known for their role in reclaiming land from water by pumping it over dikes. Absolutely breathtaking and certainly iconic.

–
Thanks for indulging my extensive coverage of these packs! Now let’s take a tiny look at my design coming soon.
Tiny Peek at My Latest Design!
I’m working up a blanket with two-color granny squares. These are like half-square triangle quilt blocks. My basket holds all of the yarn balls from the packs, so I can pick which two to pair for each square.

–
I’m picking the colors for each square fairly randomly. I have said it before, but the reason I love designing blankets is that I think of the dimensions as a canvas. I paint with the yarn, which is why many times you look at my designs and think – why? Yes, you can make a blanket design like that, but – why? 100% of the time, it was just me, fulfilling my artistic fantasy.
You can certainly get a few of the same pack to make a large blanket, or just go wild and get one of each. I want 5 packs of each to make five blankets using all 36 colors, but that’s just me. There is loads of room in crochet blankets for projects that take you through an artistic journey.

–
Another shot of this one. It’s a fun make, and definitely won’t bore you. I am using fabric quilts as my inspiration. If you’ve read my crochet pattern book, The Art of Crochet Blankets, you’ll know that I look to non-crochet sources for inspiration because it helps me advance my craft.

–
These basket photos are giving me life! Just dive in – go ahead, you have my permission.

–
Here’s a closer look at the blanket in progress. This simple pattern does just the trick for zoning out and zen time.

–
Loving these color combos already. The trick to combining all six packs is that once the blanket is done, you can’t really discern any one color unless you focus on a certain area. Overall you just see all of that lovely brightness and color splash.

–
Peep the hidden Platypus as well – might just have to change the pale tan color to a brown to make him into Perry the Platypus.

–
Well, I cannot wait to show you some more of the blanket in my next post! Thank you for coming along with me as always. Every time I get new yarn, I’m just so thrilled to share my ideas with you!
Thanks again for stopping by! Happy crafting to you,
Rachele C.
