Hello, lovely crafter! Today I have something special to share with you. I’ve had this blanket pattern in the works for a while as I was using the squares to stash bust through all of my remnants and leftovers. The pattern will consist of 7 square patterns that are joined with a continuous sc jayg using my PLT technique. The palette is made up of a bunch of Springy pastels and brights, with some lovely neutrals thrown in.
I used only Scheepjes Catona for this project, but this would make a brilliant stash buster as well. I can’t wait to show you more in this WIP post!
These squares were made over last Summer, as I sat in the sun on the deck. Pure bliss!
Motif Beginnings
I have a box of extras from any Catona 10g color packs that I have used, but didn’t use up all of the colors, so I just had that box next to me as I worked and pulled from it randomly.

–
The different motif patterns came to me along the way. Aren’t they all so cute? I love it!!

–
As you look at these motifs, I can hear you saying “but, all those endsssssss!” Well never fear, because I have a huge blog post dedicated to blankets with a ton of ends to weave in.
Almost Done!
These squares measure like 4in across – the sweetest.

–
Just a few more motifs to make a 7 x 7 layout of 49 motifs.

–
Gorgeousssss pastels and brights.

–
This layout has every other square as a floral motif, which I do like, but not sure if I will keep it that way.

Yarn Information
Okay, before I move on to the next few sets of pics, I want to take a break to show you the yarn that I used for this project!
Shopping through my links gains me a small commission that helps support my work, at no additional cost to you!
Motifs:
- Catona Yarn – mix of remnants – Color Pack at WoolWarehouse
Joining and Border:
- 50g Catona in color 106, a bright white to bring out the Springy palette

–
Now let’s continue the motif parade!
Larger Layout! 72 Motifs
Okay, when I picked this blanket back up, I decided to make more motifs – I just couldn’t help myself… Look at the bold and bright hues I added in that just set the whole thing off. So crisp!

–
And you can see the 7 motifs that I made:
- An 8-petal flower
- A 6-petal flower
- A 12-petal flower
- Solid granny
- Striped granny
- Striped circle to square granny
- Square within a square

–
Truthfully, you can use any colors for this design, and the motifs are so precious that it will work, but I recommend keeping the colors soft for the most part.

–
Final Layout
You can see that If there were too much navy blue, black, dark brown, maroon, for example, it would take the vibe in a new direction. I used darker colors sparingly!

–
Just love this blanket, and I can’t wait to see it with the bright white join. You’re going to be surprised by how much different and brighter it will look with the join.

–
One more angle!

–
And here are my squares all ready to join. This is the order, and now I just have to get it done! Hoping to finish tonight 🙂

–
I wanted to show you how the join looks. Here’s my tiny start on the method. One of my favorite joins! On Friday, I’ll show you the rest and drop the free pattern. Look out for it!

–
Thank you so much for checking out my new WIP, the Spring Mix Blanket, and I hope you have a wonderful week!
Happy Crafting,
Rachele C.
