Hello, lovely! Today I want to introduce you to one of the crochet blanket patterns in my book, The Art of Crochet Blankets (Amazon). I named this pattern “Graffiti Blanket” because it has such a wild, metropolitan vibe. I hope you enjoy this little presentation of my crochet pattern!
In this post, I will:
- Show some delicious photos of Graffiti
- Display the progress pics of a lovely crafter who made the blanket
- Reveal the digital art and artist that inspired this piece
- Offer a yarn suggestion for Graffiti
- Give you ways to share your WIP/FO on Facebook, Ravelry, and Instagram
- Show you my book, The Art of Crochet Blankets

The Graffiti Crochet Blanket
Constructed from different triangle and diamond motifs, Graffiti is like a wild puzzle that will make any bold color palette sing. Of course, a pastel scheme would also look amazing, especially with a splash of white.
–
It was an absolute joy to design these motifs, and figuring out how to add a texture element to the 2D original artwork was super fun too. From the motif creation to the easy join, you will love this piece.
–
This project is very zen! You just make all of the motifs and then join then once you have your big pile.
–
The texture is incredible!
Yarn Suggestions
I made this blanket from the now discontinued Scheepjes Velvet yarn. There was a lot of personality in that yarn, and it was so buttery soft! I do miss it, but I think you could easily make this blanket in Scrumptious (WoolWarehouse, Jimmy Beans Wool) or Stone Washed and River Washed (WoolWarehouse, Jimmy Beans Wool, Amazon). Even Spirit yarn (WoolWarehouse) would look amazing with the multi-dimensional tonal colors.
You can shop through those affiliate links to help support my work at no additional cost, and you can also find a Scheepjes Retailer near you!
Graffiti in the Wild
Now I want to show you some photos from lovely crafter on Instagram @MariPepaCroxet who made the Graffiti Blanket in her own bold color palette.
–
Isn’t it gorgeous? I love seeing my book patterns out in the wild, and @MariPepaCroxet always has something incredible on the hook.
The Inspiration Behind The Graffiti Blanket
With digital art’s meteoric increase in popularity, it feels refreshing to draw inspiration for my ancient craft from this incredibly modern art. My pattern book is a study on drawing crochet inspiration from non-crochet art sources in order to elevate our craft and evolve it, pushing the limits. It has six chapters with each one focusing on an artist with a different non-crochet art medium.
–
Graffiti is in the Digital Art chapter, and incredible artist, Francisco Valle, was my inspiration. You can find his work on Instagram. I chose three of his works to create inspired pieces, and here’s the work behind Graffiti:
