Dutch Rose Blanket CAL

Dutch Rose Blanket CAL: Full Rose Hexagon Pattern (US Terms)

Welcome to the Full Rose Hexagon pattern for the Dutch Rose Blanket CAL! This is in US Terms – find UK Terms here.

Materials

  • For full yarn list for both colorways, please see the Main CAL Info Page.
  • We will be using a size 3.75mm hook, or whatever hook size you need in order to get gauge.

Gauge

Hexagon motifs should measure 7.5in at the widest point, and 6.75in from flat side to flat side.

Repeat and Bracket Guide

  • Square brackets [ ] are used for small repeats: 4dc, [2dc, 3tr, 2dc] 2 times
  • Asterisks *are used for repeats that include small repeats: *5dc, [ch1, 1dc] 3 times in next ch, rep from * 3 times
  • Round brackets ( ) are used when a string of stitches are worked into the same spot: (3tr, 3ch, 3tr) in next st

Tips and Notes

  • Weave your ends after each time you cut the yarn to avoid having to do them all at the end.
  • Please read the stitch guide for any abbreviations.
  • To get a neater result, I do not “chain up” for the first sc of the round/row. Jump straight into the first sc.
  • Read carefully through the entire pattern before beginning.
  • “Ss in 1 ch” or “Ss in 2 chs” means to slip stitch into that number of chains of the first chain space.

Joining Schematic

Join as-you-go instructions for joining on final round of motifs that require joining.

Rnd 11, join as-you-go instructions to join 1 side Ss in 1 ch, 1sc in same ch-sp, PLT Join as follows: remove lp from hook, insert hook in corresponding st on adjacent completed motif, grab lp, Pull Loop Through to front of work (PLT Joining maneuver complete), 1sc in same ch-sp, PLT in next corresponding st on adjacent completed motif, [1sc, PLT] 16 times, 1sc in next ch-sp, PLT, 2sc in same ch-sp, continue working around motif until first corner is reached, 1sc in first corner to complete it, ss in first sc, cut yarn and weave ends.

Rnd 11, join as-you-go instructions to join 2 sides Ss in 1 ch, 1sc in same ch-sp, PLT Join as follows: remove lp from hook, insert hook in corresponding st on adjacent completed motif, grab lp, Pull Loop Through to front of work (PLT Joining maneuver complete), 1sc in same ch-sp, PLT in next corresponding st on adjacent completed motif, [1sc, PLT] 16 times, 1sc in next ch-sp, PLT, 1sc in same ch-sp, PLT in center sc of next completed motif, 1sc in same ch-sp, PLT, [1sc, PLT] 16 times, 1sc in next ch-sp, PLT, 2sc in same ch-sp, continue working plain without joining around motif until first corner is reached, 1sc in first corner to complete it, ss in first sc, cut yarn and weave ends.

If more sides need to be joined, work as for instructions for 2 sides, and after joining final side, make 2sc in corner to complete it, and finish the remaining sides without joining. Diagram will be a huge help here.
