Hello, lovely crafter! Today I have a special treat for you. I want to show you the latest Scheepjes YARN Bookazine: Issue 12: Romance.
According to the Scheepjes Facebook page, this issue “pays tribute to the Pre-Raphaelite and Arts and Crafts movements of the 19th century and is divided into four enthralling chapters inspired by renowned muses Lizzie Siddal, Fanny Eaton, Annie Miller and Effie Gray.” This edition is a stunner!
While the patterns in the bookazine are definitely top notch, I enjoy perusing through the issues and reading the words of the diverse creatives interviewed. It certainly offers some of the most interesting articles that I have seen in a YARN Bookazine thus far.
If you’ve been following me for any length of time, you know I like to bring non-crochet inspiration into my work, and this issue even features a marvelously talented wallpaper artist Hugh Dunford Wood. How fabulous is that?
The bookazine is in my hot little hands, and I have not been able to put it down. You may have a copy – or maybe a collection – of YARN Bookazine, so you know that it’s more than just the awesome patterns within… It’s the photography, the mood, the theme, and much more. When you flip through it, it truly is like flipping through a magazine, and you’ll find yourself reaching for it again and again, just to look through the beautiful pages. And as for this issue, wait till you see my contribution!

Morris Blanket
My contribution to this romantic issue of YARN Bookazine is the Morris Blanket (Ravelry link) made with Scheepjes Chunky Monkey. It was so much fun to design this blanket and choose the bright and lush colors.
Aren’t the bookazine photos lovely? I am always amazed when the photography comes back and it feels like my blanket is a total rock star. They do such a great job! I love how the colors pop and the lace is so fun in the chunky yarn.
William Morris
This blanket design pays homage to the equal parts intricate and whimsical wallpaper of William Morris. Mixing the colors and creating the lace and trellis panels was a delight, and I know you will enjoy the construction. It is so simple, but comes together to make something beautiful.
Look at how lovely Morris’s designs are. They bounce from small repeated images to large and artsy unexpected repeats. These elements inspired the different panels of the Morris Blanket.

Full Blanket Photos
I took a few of my own photos, and I thought I would share! The border color did get updated along the way, but I just could not get enough of this blanket, and I am already itching to make it again.
Working with this yarn is a dream… Chunky Monkey is squooshy, springy, and soft, while being very durable. The anti-pilling acrylic blend is the absolute best thing ever. You wouldn’t think a chunky yarn could provide adequate stitch definition for a lacy project, but this lace is undeniably set off by the thicker yarn.
And here’s one more photo of the trellis panel. I just love the look of these panels and how they all work together! My favorite part about this project was being able to switch between the type of crochet that demands your attention, and the type of crochet that you can zone out and really get Zen with.

Miller Mittens
There are a couple more patterns in the Bookazine that I really want to show you! I know we are mainly a crochet community, but for those of us who knit – I do know how and need to get back into it! – these Miller Mittens by Carmen Jorissen are an absolute delight. I want a pair for myself! Plus, they’re made in one of my favorite new yarns, the durable and soft Scheepjes Metropolis (affiliate). Can’t go wrong!
This project caught my eye because of the fabulous colorwork, and because if you are thinking of doing some slow crafting, this project is for you! They really are lovely. I can’t wait to pull out my circs and try these.

Pomegranate Brooch
Another project from this issue that I just love is this gorgeous Pomegranate Brooch by Kwannie Cheng of Studio Manya. What a lovely little beaded piece, and a perfect replica of the real thing. Besides that, Scheepjes Maxi never disappoints and is always fun to work with.
Thank you for taking some time out of your day to check out my Morris Blanket in the latest Scheepjes YARN Bookazine, Romance. I hope you enjoyed it, and if you make it, be sure to tag me (@cypresstextiles) on social media or post it in my Facebook group.
