3 Ways to Crochet-A-Long in 2017

It’s a new year, in case you hadn’t noticed. I myself am still finishing 2016’s work, so I hardly have that “fresh start,” “new year, new me” feeling.. it’s the same ol’ 2016 me until I finish these projects and move on to the Next Big Thing. About this time last year, that big thing was my Vibrant Vintage CAL. With so many participants and a new square each week, I had a lot of fun keeping busy! CALs are a beautiful way to make the coming of the new year count. An easy-breezy commitment with a support group net of crafters that paves a surefire road to accomplishment. But this year I don’t have time to run a CAL. I do miss it though, so 2018 here I come 🙂 For now, check out these CALs from some seriously talented crafters that are sure to draw a crowd. 1. Plain Granny Square

Hello! You’ve landed on the Plain Granny Square pattern that we will be working weekly during the VVCAL. Each of the 32 weeks of squares, I’ll link to this pattern. We will make 24 Solid and 8 Multi-color versions of these squares, 1 per week. Note: Are you enjoying this CAL? The VVCAL is a FOREVER FREE collection of 33 afghan block patterns including PDF versions, charts, and photo steps, plus mix-and-match joining methods and edging options, as well as endless support via myself, or social media groups. I thought this could be a great opportunity if anyone feels like they can donate to a worthy cause. Someone very close to me is going through stage 4 cancer, while somehow managing to keep up with two toddlers (one newly adopted, and one surprise natural success!). Any amount will help, and each week I will donate 100% of the funds to their GoFundMe page for medical bills. Click here to donate; I genuinely appreciate it! Planning the VVCAL

Blanket design: Please see the VVCAL Main Page, here for tons of great info including yarn options, weekly CAL schedule, and more!! Color palette for squares: Palette nabbed from Little Tin Bird – with just a couple adjustments due to my yarn diet lol – so I used what I had onhand… All Stylecraft Special DK except for one ball of New Fashion DK in Aspen (the ball without the band). Border colors sorted: For now! We’ll see if I change them later. Planning commenced – with Boo Bear helping of course:   This was my first time cutting yarn pieces and taping them to log the color choices. What a fun activity! Boo Bear is the official ball band remover… He chews them right off! Haha Closeup of my planner for those interested: I use a hard-bound graph paper moleskine, and I draw in the days of the week. I find that for my needs (kids’ after-school activities and homework, meal planning, BabyLove Brand shop needs and to-dos, project planning, etc etc), the less …
