Dutch Rose Blanket CAL: Full Striped Hexagon Pattern (US and UK Terms)

Welcome to the Full Striped Hexagon pattern for the Dutch Rose Blanket CAL! You will find both US and UK Terms here on this page.

Materials

  • For full yarn list for both colorways, please see the Main CAL Info Page.
  • We will be using a size 3.75mm hook, or whatever hook size you need in order to get gauge.

Gauge

Hexagon motifs should measure 7.5in at the widest point, and 6.75in from flat side to flat side.

Repeat and Bracket Guide

  • Square brackets [ ] are used for small repeats: 4dc, [2dc, 3tr, 2dc] 2 times
  • Asterisks *are used for repeats that include small repeats: *5dc, [ch1, 1dc] 3 times in next ch, rep from * 3 times
  • Round brackets ( ) are used when a string of stitches are worked into the same spot: (3tr, 3ch, 3tr) in next st

Tips and Notes

  • Weave your ends after each time you cut the yarn to avoid having to do them all at the end.
  • Please read the stitch guide for any abbreviations.
  • To get a neater result, I do not “chain up” for the first sc of the round/row. Jump straight into the first sc.
  • Read carefully through the entire pattern before beginning.
  • “Ss in 1 ch” or “Ss in 2 chs” means to slip stitch into that number of chains of the first chain space.

Rnd 1 MR, beg dc, (ch1, 2dc) 5 times, ch1, 1dc, ss in beg dc, cut yarn and weave ends. [12 dc, 6 sp]

Rnd 2 Join new color with ss in any ch-sp, beg dc in same sp, [ch1, 2dc in same sp, ch1, 2dc in next sp] 6 times omitting final dc, ss in beg dc, cut yarn and weave ends. [24 dc, 12 sp]

Rnds 3-7 Join new color with ss in any corner ch-sp, beg dc in same sp, * ch1, 2dc in same sp, [ch1, 2dc in next sp] across to next corner sp, ch1, 2dc in corner sp, rep from * 5 times omitting final dc, ss in beg dc, cut yarn and weave ends. [After Rnd 7: 84 dc, 42 sp]

Rnd 8 Join new color with ss in any corner ch-sp, beg dc in same sp, [ch2, 2dc in same sp, 2dc in all sps across to next corner sp, 2dc in corner sp] 6 times omitting final dc, ss in beg dc, cut yarn and weave ends. [96 dc, 6 sp]

Round 9 is the Joining Round. Join your new color and then follow joining instruction just as for Full Rose Hexagon Motif. [114 sc]
