Introduction

Each of the VVCAL 2018 Squares were dedicated to a tree by one of the members of my CypressTextiles Tree Huggers Facebook group.

The Redbud Square was named by Carol Brunquell Sutcliffe. Thank you.

Materials and Measurements

  • Yarn: Scheepjes Softfun (affiliate link) – (60% Cotton, 40% Acrylic); (140m/50g)
  • Color: If using the Warm Neutrals palette, make 5 square each of 9 colors, and 6 squares each of 3 colors, leaving the cream out for joining and border.
  • Hook: US Size 4.5mm
  • Size: 6 inches

    Rnd 2 Beg dc, (3dc in same sp, dc in next sp) 8 times omitting final dc, ss in beg dc. [32 dc]

    Rnd 3 (Sc in next st, ch2, sk1) 16 times, ss in first sc. [16 sc, 16 sp]

    Rnd 4 (Sc, ch1, 2dc, ch1, sc) in 16 sps, do not join rnd. [32 dc, 32 sc, 32 sp]

    Rnd 5 Remove lp from hook, insert hook from back to front through the first sc of Rnd 4, grab lp, pull lp to back of work, (ch3, working behind “petals”, sc in the skipped sc from Rnd 3) 15 times, ch3, do not join round. [15 sc, 16 sp]
