Hello, fellow creative! Today, I’m going to share a book review/report with you. I look forward to sharing many titles in these reports and connecting them to my Creative Journey Series. I believe as creatives it is so important for us to study the works of others, and use the creative tools that other artists have provided. Seeing the field of art through many perspectives and lenses is crucial to growing ourselves as artists.

Whether you purchase these books second-hand, or check them out from a library, I can say that I recommend perusing them, taking them in, and processing their contents. Sometimes I will review a book that is written by an author who means to help us with our art, and sometimes I will review a curated art book that has a few editors and focuses on the artworks of a certain artist. In both cases, there is something to be learned and inspiration to be gathered.

Hello, gorgeous crafter! Today, I have another WIP to FO reveal for you. I am so determined to finish these blankets and telling you about it is keeping me accountable. As I complete each blanket, I will be updating the WIP entry In the WIP pile reveal post. Check back on it to follow my WIP to FO journey!

There isn’t really any order that I am finishing these in either, so expect them to be fairly random. I tried to organize them in a way that made sense, but after all was said and done, it just made the most sense to go with my creative gut and finish whichever one I wanted to work on next.

The OG Vibrant Vintage Blankets: A Bright Walk Down Memory Lane!

Hello, lovely crafter! Today I was thinking about my next VVCAL (2026) and I started reminiscing about how my love for “vibrant vintage” started. Folks have asked over the years, what does “VVCAL” stand for? Well, it stands for “Vibrant Vintage Crochet-Along”, and before the CALs ever came to be, I was deeeep in a phase of creating vintage looking crochet pieces, but with wildly bright and funky yarn colors. I just could not get over taking those traditional grandmother type pieces, and making them in technicolor.

I made quite a few of these very bright pieces and I wanted to share them with you today! OGs will remember these from way back when CypressTextiles was “BabyLove Brand” in like 2012-2013, but in case you haven’t been following for that long, you’re in for a treat.

Design Contribution: 100 Crochet Tiles Book

Hello, lovely crafter! Today I wanted to feature a wonderful book that I contributed to called 100 Crochet Tiles: Charts and Patterns for Crochet Motifs Inspired by Decorative Tiles. This is a beautiful volume of crochet blocks that you can turn to again and again for squares to make a tiled blanket. New Free Crochet Blanket Pattern in the Works!

Hello, lovely crafter! Today I want to share my latest free crochet blanket pattern progress, The Prismalux Blanket. The pattern will consist of quilt-block inspired squares which are then joined together in a super unique way, combining two of my favorite themes in crochet: quilt blocks and rainbows.

I have used full balls of Scheepjes River Washed, and a Scheepjes Stone Washed and River Washed pack (yarny info below) but you can really use any gorgeous yarns you have. This would make a brilliant stash buster as well. I can’t wait to show you more in this WIP post. Hoping to slide into home with a Pride Month pattern publish!

Free Crochet Pattern: Birdsong Blanket (UK Terms)

Hello, gorgeous crafter! Today I want to share a crochet pattern that is from 2017 – around the time that I thought I was going to start a crochet magazine. Then I realized just how much work it really was and slowly let go of the idea. Throughout all these years, there has only been a paid PDF version of the Birdsong Crochet Blanket Pattern, but now I want to release the free version in an effort to continually make sure all of my patterns are accessible to everyone.

This pattern is one of a few that I have written which are inspired by the arts of an instagrammer named Jessica who no longer runs her account. I’ll keep her info private just because one of the reasons she left IG was for more privacy. But I was quite inspired by her works when she was posting, and she was always making magic with markers and paper. One day, she shared an illustration with me that had me pulling a palette of yarn from my stash immediately. The resulting blanket is a color-changing intarsia masterpiece!
