Hello, lovely! Today I am sharing some new yarny goodness that came in the mail via Scheepjes! This is Organicon Yarn, which is an eco-conscious, sustainable, and vegan-friendly yarn that comes in 21 yummy shades. I am using it for my latest project, which happens to be very special.
Recently, I decided to create a Start Here page to help welcome new-comers and OG fans to navigate my website and to see the latest and most popular patterns. In that process, I typed out every pattern I have ever written, and organized them by category in ABC order. Whew, there were a LOT!
I counted up the full blanket patterns that I have self-published, written for my book, and written for Scheepjes, and guess what – it added up to 99! That means this blanket will officially be my 100th full blanket pattern – how cool is that?
Hopefully the design will live up to the hype of being number 100, but the precious colors of Organicon will definitely give me a good start.

Picking Colors!
I have been in the biggest mood for pale summery colors, as you can see in my recent Dutch Rose Blanket sample that I have been working up in Scheepjes Stone Washed.
Definitely out of my comfort zone, this palette is helping me push my boundaries and broaden my color horizons, so that my blanket samples will have a wider variety of aesthetic.
Organicon is perfect for this little kick that I’m on because it has a perfect little rainbow of pale pastel summery colors. Look at these six shades. Aren’t they awesome together?
And look at these six slightly brighter colors. Equally awesome!!
Now, when I tell you I thought, and thought, and thought about which one to choose, I am not exaggerating. None of my decision making tricks worked. I walked away and came back to it later, I showed my kids and asked them to pick one (50/50 split.. of course), and I played “peek-a-boo” closing my eyes and opening them to somehow startle myself into choosing.
Finally, after flipping a coin several times, I actually decided to go with the brighter pastels because I felt like it was more in line with the blankets I typically make – bold palettes!
Delicious Yarny Photos
The crisp, fresh white really goes well with these colors, just look at how gorgeous this is.
I honestly could not wait to start using this yarn. I am going with one of my favorites, linen stitch, and for that I always go up in hook size because it tends to pull in and shrink, so you can get away with a larger hook. My 3.5mm hook will be working this project up swiftly!
First Look at My New Project!
Okay, you guys, here’s a look at my new project. I don’t want to give away the layout yet, but you can see some of the shapes that will be featured in the layout. I’m absolutely in love with them already!
I’ll be joining these sweet geometric cuties with the white yarn, and adding an adorable border. This one will be precious – a perfect 100th blanket design!
Here are some more photos:
I would describe this yarn as a soft and durable, with a beautiful hand. The stitch definition is amazing, and there is a quiet simplicity in the solid coloring.
When I have worked up more of the shapes, I will post again and update you! The other colors are really calling me to come back to this project and get to work. I think I will use my tip of printing my layout and crossing off the completed motifs to feel like I am accomplishing more.
Something tells me one day I will be ordering the more pale pastel shade colors to make a project with because they are very nice looking. For now I will enjoy these sweet candy colors.
Thank you for reading, and I’m looking forward to sharing more in about a week’s time!
Happy Crafting and get some hooky in!
