I have relied heavily on crafting to stay grounded and be positive this year… Maybe you also need to let some light in? Stash busters, remnant eaters, squares, join as you go… it’s all in there. All written up for beginners.
Four Square Blanket
The Four Square Crochet Blanket is really the best design to start out with. Even if you’ve only made a granny square, you can do this one.
Isn’t this one a delight? perfect for stash busting, as any colors you use will look fantastic. A perfect yarn for this one is Colour Crafter.
Sunshine Blanket
My Sunshine Blanket is such a sweet design for a beginner. You will be so pleased with this one and learn a great join as you go trick too. Plus pompoms! Yes!
This is one of my very favorite designs. It’s just so fun! I used Scheepjes Cotton 8 yarn.
Another great one for remnants, you can make each round, and even that perfect little disc in the center, using any colors you have on hand and it will look great. Use leftovers in the pompoms to bring the colors together even more!
Cottontail Blanket
My Cottontail Blanket Design was one of the first things I made as a Scheepjes Blogger. The Scheepjes Roma Big yarn I originally used has now been discontinued, but I replaced the yarn with Scheepjes Chunky Monkey, which is an anti-pilling chunky yarn that I adore.
These abstract little rectangle blocks just slay me with the addition of those puffy little bobbles. I have been wanting to make another one of these pretty blankets, and I just might have to do it soon!
Painted Hexagons Blanket
This blanket is like the hexagon version of the iconic granny square blanket. I named it Painted Hexagons because I think each round looks like little painted impressionist brush strokes.
I used Catona yarn for this sample, and I had such a huge Catona yarn stash that there are many, many colors in this blanket. But don’t they look fantastic together? Something about the feel of a granny stitch brings any colors together beautifully.
This is probably the most popular of all the patterns in this series because of the joining tricks that you will learn. I used continuous join as you go, which sounds intimidating, but once it clicks, you’ll have a shiny new crochet tool in your toolbox to use.
Polka Dot Blanket
I just adore this design. Something about those little perfect polka dots and how they are offset because they’re on. Hexagon base. This blanket really ticks a lot of my crochet comfort design boxes. I used Colour Crafter, so it’s perfect for a durable baby blanket.
This is another design that uses my PLT Join, which you will absolutely love! Many many crafters rave about my PLT Join. It is simple, neat, and perfectly flat. You’ll love it!
