Hi, everyone! Tonight I am announcing the winner of my first Vibrant Vintage CAL (2018) contest, The Blog Giveaway. You can read all about the giveaway on the VVCAL Reboot Main Page, but I’ll summarize. In order to enter this contest, all you had to do was subscribe to receive notification of my new blog posts via email, before May 10, 2018. So I’d love to give a huge shoutout to the nearly 400 new subscribers to my website! Welcome to my crafty corner of the webs. 🙂
The Blog Giveaway
Announcing the winner of The Blog Giveaway! This is the first of three giveaways that I am hosting during the VVCAL reboot. I wanted to give away a yarn pack for this blanket, and I was kind of thinking how can I do this. Well, I’d certainly love to share my blog posts with even more of you lovlies! So, that was my answer. I definitely appreciate your subscribing, and hopefully you can make some use of my hooky content.
Here is a photo of the yarn pack, Pastel Chic. 24 x 50g balls – a mix of Scheepjes Softfun and Softfun Denim. Of course some extra yarn is present in the photo below, but this is indeed the color palette. Heart eyes!
And the winner is:
Lesley, Instagram user: @theJammyBean! Of course, I’m in love with Instagram, so when Lesley told me she has a home for her crafty stuff on IG, I had to check it out. Here is a little gallery of my favorite images from her IG feed:
Aren’t her projects and photographs just so special? I love the soft aura, and Lesley hinted to me that she feels like a beginner when it comes to Instagram, but can’t you totally tell that she loves to play with composition in her photos? Give her IG feed a browse, and get inspired to hook up some chic and simple makes.
As a special treat, I thought you all would like to be introduced to Lesley!
Meet Lesley of @theJammyBean
Hi, Lesley! (Side note: Loving the cozy textiles in this pic!) I had a sit-down with Lesley from a zillion miles away, and asked her a few pressing hooky questions.
Q. How did you come to love crochet?
My mom taught me how to crochet two years ago because I wanted to make hats and scarves for my son and twin daughters. As soon as I learned, I fell in love with crochet! It helped me to relax during my kids’ nap time and at night, while also feeling like I was accomplishing something more than just the hamster wheel that life at that time felt like with three kids under the age of 4!
Q. What types of items do you make?
I make all different things because I always try to learn something new every time I make something – whether it’s a new stitch, a new way to change color, a new way to join squares, a new border. I thought I would eventually sell things that I had made, but that sort of took the joy out of it for me – feeling like I had a deadline – so I just make things for my family, for gifts, or for charity.
Q. Where do you find inspiration?
Lately, it has been on Instagram! My sister had been telling me for over a year to join Instagram for all the crochet inspiration, so I finally did and I am blown away by the talented crocheters and all of the beautiful things they make! I am so inspired when I see things I’ve never seen before! Really, I was so amazed the first time I had found Cypress Textiles! The color combos were lovely and the shapes for joined blankets were so original!
Q. Any crafty confessions?
Just that I stay up too late, too often crocheting!
(Side note: hashtag #relatable)
Q. What has been your greatest crochet triumph?
Making baby dolls for my daughters that they love so much that I’ve had to sew arms and heads back on a few times! Also, My in-laws once entered one of my crochet blankets into the county fair and I won second place!
Q. Where can my readers find you online?
For now, just Instagram @thejammybean, but maybe a blog or something in the future!
Isn’t our crafty community the best? Getting the opportunity to meet such lovely people as Lesley is super special.
So there you go, y’all! Thank you to everyone who entered the drawing. The announcement kicking off The YouTube Giveaway will happen very soon, so don’t miss out on your next shot at a great crafty prize!
Before I let you go, I wanted to show you the last decent photo I took of my trial squares for the VVCAL, which kicks off May 25th. This pic was definitely already posted to IG, and I have several more squares completed, but the only photo I got of the new squares (and the beginnings of a whip st join!) was complete rubbish. Uh, deleted.
Until next time, may all your WIP pics be well lit and perfectly composed. 🙂
