Inside Crochet, Issue 97

Hey, y’all! Exciting news: I was interviewed for the mini “Blog We Love” feature in Inside Crochet, issue 97. And when I say I rode the confidence-boost wave of this magazine interview for at least a month, I’m not the least bit kidding. The proof is where I’ve been doing the majority of my *squeeeeeee*-ing as of late: my IG stories lol [Related: Check out Inside Crochet!] I’ll let you all read the issue for yourself to see the full interview, but it was so much fun, and got me thinking about big picture ideas like why I do what I do. Sometimes it’s refreshing to get back on track with that “forest” stuff, especially when starting a new endeavor like opening a yarn shop gets you stuck in the trees 🙂 Another fabulous thing about this interview, and the main thing I want to share today, was having to sift through all of my makes to select three photos. Oh my goodness… *Backstory moment* …If you didn’t know, I used to be “BabyLove Brand” …

We were ON a BREAK!: The one where Rachele purges her current crochet inspiration, then takes a break.

Yes, folks! I will be taking a two-week design break. No thinking, plotting, planning, sketching, imagining, calculating, graphing, or otherwise noodling around in any effort to convert a whim of an idea into a blanket. Two! Weeks! So before I begin, of course I want to show you all how hard this is going to be by letting you in on some stuff that currently in my design idea book. (Side note: my design idea book is in the app AwesomeNote. Any actual designing takes place in my graph paper planner. More on this in a post coming soon!) First up: I have an epic series of tessellation-based blankets coming. Here are a couple samples of the shapes and the color schemes… y’all I want to show you so much more of this, but I must keep it all to myself! ❤️ Next up: A pair of mixed-motif blankets.. You can see the rough blanket sketch, and then its inspiration screen-shot, with the respective IG names showing! I highly recommend you run and follow those …

Dutch Rose: The hygge is strong with this one

Major update: I’ve decided to turn this piece into a full on CAL – read more here! ••• I do my best work in the early morning. It’s when I’m thinking clearly, there’s peace and quiet, a cup of coffee, and me and my graph paper. A few days ago, I finished a huge project and I wanted to have some “play time.” Scheepjes | Stone Washed was calling me, but what would I make? A granny square starting to form in front of me, but I frogged it… nope. Not a granny square, but something just as comforting to me, if not more so. A hexagon.
